Volunteering at the shelter

We are always looking for committed, reliable volunteers to help at our shelter. Volunteers are needed to walk dogs and socialize both the dogs and the cats. Although we do have 4 large dog runs where the dogs can play and enjoy each others company, it is so beneficial to our dogs when they have an opportunity to walk with our volunteers and get some one on one attention. Our shelter is located on 7 acres of land and volunteers can walk the dogs along beautiful wooded trails. It is also important for our dogs to have as much leash time as possible so they can learn to walk without pulling.

Many of our older dogs in particular like their quiet time away from the shelter and most walk very well on the leash so for those volunteers that prefer a more leisurely walk, we will be happy to set you up with dogs that we know are calm and already walk well on the leash.

If cats are more your speed, we also welcome people who want to come and spend some time with them. They love human companionship.

If you are interested in finding out more about how you can help or want to set up a time to come by and walk the dogs please give us a call at (819) 876-7785. You will get an answering machine so please just leave your name and phone number and let us know you are calling about volunteering and we will be sure to call you back.
